This white wine is chenin blanc from Thibaud Boudignon's biodynamically farmed estate in Savennières, grown in the rocky, shallow schist that defines the appellation. Les Fougerais was Boudignon's original site-specific bottling before the estate expanded into several separate single-vineyard cuvées, so this 2013 predates that later structure. Boudignon has farmed biodynamically from the estate's founding, on vines mostly planted in 1990.

It displays a bright gold color, opening with quince, beeswax, and a distinct wet-stone note from the schist. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is dense and mineral, balancing ripe orchard fruit against a hard, stony spine. Acidity runs high and keeps the richness in check. Texture builds through the middle without turning heavy. It finishes long and stony, the schist outlasting the fruit.
