This red wine is Stella di Campalto's Rosso di Montalcino, the lighter, earlier-drinking counterpart to her Brunello from the same Podere San Giuseppe estate near Sant'Antimo. The label states only 367 bottles were produced, entirely from the estate's own biodynamically farmed sangiovese. Libero, meaning free, marks the wine's release outside Brunello's stricter aging rules, closer to how the fruit tasted the year it was picked.

It displays a bright ruby color, opening with red cherry, wild strawberry, and a faint herbal lift. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is fresher and less structured than the estate's Brunello, balancing juicy red fruit against soft, approachable tannin. Acidity runs high and keeps the wine lively. Savory, earthy notes still show through, a mark of the same biodynamic ground. It finishes clean and bright, built for nearer-term drinking than the estate's top tier.
