This red wine is a Brunello di Montalcino from Stella di Campalto's Podere San Giuseppe, a small estate near the ninth-century abbey of Sant'Antimo that has been organic since 1996 and biodynamic since 2002. Di Campalto farms roughly 6.7 hectares of sangiovese across distinct plots, working with a hands-on, minimal-intervention approach across the whole property. This bottling is the estate's top tier, held to Brunello's stricter aging requirements rather than released as the lighter Rosso di Montalcino.

It displays a garnet color, opening with dark cherry, dried rose, and a savory, earthy depth typical of Montalcino sangiovese. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is structured and precise, balancing ripe fruit against firm, fine-grained tannin. Acidity runs high, keeping the wine lifted despite its structure. Savory, mineral notes deepen the fruit through the middle. It finishes long and layered, built for further years in the cellar.
