Grape: Sauvignon Blanc, Grüner Veltliner
Vintage: 2023
Type: White

This certified organic white wine is an artisanal blend of sauvignon blanc and grüner veltliner from the Weinviertel region of Austria. Winemaker Gerald Poller manages the vineyards sustainably on deep loess soils, utilizing cover crops to protect the soil ecology. The hand-harvested grapes undergo a cool fermentation driven by native wild vineyard yeasts inside stainless steel tanks. It matures on its fine lees to build natural structural balance without any oak barrel manipulation.

It displays a pale yellow color, releasing fresh aromas of yellow apple, ripe pear, and citrus zest over a white flower baseline. A sleek, medium-bodied frame balances fresh orchard fruit flavors with an underlying creamy texture. A lively wave of natural acidity runs through the center, keeping the mouthfeel thoroughly refreshed. Notes of stone fruit and a gentle minerality add a savory depth across mid-palate. It finishes clean, dry, and crisp with a whisper of herbal spice.

Pollerhof is a family estate in Austria's Weinviertel, now led by Erwin Poller, whose work gives Gruner Veltliner and other local varieties a playful but serious stage. The estate farms loess and limestone-influenced soils around Roschitz, producing wines that often balance crispness with a charming, slightly offbeat personality. Poller is known for fresh, aromatic whites, sparkling experiments and labels that do not take themselves too seriously, but the farming and cellar work are careful. The wines are clean, bright and peppery, showing the Weinviertel as a place of everyday refreshment with more nuance than its reputation sometimes suggests.
