Pertois-Moriset Chouilly Grand Cru 2018
Pertois-MorisetGrape: Chardonnay
Vintage: 2018
Type: Sparkling
This sparkling wine is a single-village blanc de blancs from Chouilly, the grand cru at the northern tip of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalk opens toward Épernay. It is 100% chardonnay from vines averaging 58 years, bottled as part of Pertois-Moriset's Mono-Village series so each grand cru can be tasted on its own. The 2018 harvest rested on its lees until disgorgement in April 2023, more than 4 years later. It is Chouilly's broader, more generous side of chardonnay, held in place by chalk.
It pours a pale gold with a fine, persistent bead, opening with ripe lemon, white peach, and brioche. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame balances round orchard fruit with a creamy mousse from the long lees aging. Toasted almond and a chalky mineral note sit underneath. A firm line of acidity carries the fruit, framed by just 1.5 g/L of dosage that keeps it extra brut. It finishes dry, long, and clean.
