This single-vineyard red wine comes from the Bombolieri district near Vittoria in southeastern Sicily, showcasing a pure expression of frappato. Winemaker Arianna Occhipinti manages these organic and biodynamic plots rooted in thin calcareous clay resting directly on solid limestone bedrock. The hand-picked grapes undergo a spontaneous fermentation with native wild yeasts to preserve varietal clarity and natural acidity. Following a gentle extraction, it ages for twenty-two months in neutral Slavonian oak casks.
It pours a translucent ruby hue, opening with aromatics of wild pomegranate, blood orange peel, and dried thyme. The palate is light-to-medium-bodied and energetic, driven by a sharp, vertical beam of limestone acidity. Vibrant flavors of sour cherry and red currant weave together with a chalky mineral core. The tannins are fine-grained and soft, providing a structural frame without heavy or jammy weight. It finishes dry and fresh, leaving a persistent impression of crushed stone.
