The Luigi Ferrando Canavese Rosso Torrazza 2022 offers a vibrant expression of its Piedmontese origin. This red wine showcases a deep ruby color and opens with an inviting bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, and hints of dried herbs. Luigi Ferrando is the historic benchmark for Carema, the tiny alpine Nebbiolo appellation tucked into northern Piedmont near the Valle d'Aosta. The Ferrando family has been connected to wine since the late nineteenth century, and today their Carema remains one of Italy's most haunting mountain reds. The vines grow on steep terraces supported by stone pillars, where Nebbiolo ripens slowly in a cool, dramatic landscape. In the cellar the approach is traditional and patient, using long aging to reveal pale color, high perfume, fine tannin and a mineral austerity that feels closer to the Alps than to the Langhe.
