This red wine comes from Littorai's parcel at Wendling Vineyard in the Deep End, the coolest corner of Anderson Valley and the most northwesterly site in the appellation. Littorai chose a steep block facing due south after leading a soils study across the 20-acre property in 2009, and planted it in 2010 to 11 selections, much of it from its own budwood. The vines grow in shallow sandy loam over sandstone and shale, with only 6 to 12 inches of topsoil. This bottling predates the Block E designation, which joined the label in 2016.
