Les Quatre Piliers Chapitre I 2024
Les Quatre PiliersGrape: Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage: 2024
Type: White
This white wine is the Chapitre I sauvignon blanc of Valentin Desloges, who trained at Coche-Dury and Domaine Paul Pillot before taking over Les Quatre Piliers in Noyers-sur-Cher in Touraine. The fruit comes from 20- to 50-year-old vines at a west-facing site called Les Puits aux Chiens on the right bank of the Cher. It is whole-bunch pressed, fermented with native yeasts in used barrels, and aged 12 months on its lees. It is certified organic and bottled unfiltered with low sulfur.
It pours a pale lemon-gold, opening with grapefruit, white peach, and flint. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame balances incisive citrus with a creamy texture from the lees. A smoky, stony note sits underneath. A taut line of acidity drives through the center. It finishes long, precise, and mineral.
