Lady of the Sunshine Chevey White Blend 2024
Lady of the SunshineGrape: Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay
Vintage: 2024
Type: White
This wine is inspired by the traditional white blend of the Cheverny region within the Loire Valley in France where Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are classically blended together. In 2024, we were lucky to work with a wildly beautiful organic vineyard in the southern part of the SLO Coast AVA, called Rancho Arroyo Grande. This vineyard site has sandy rolling hills that nestle against the Los Padre National Forest. This vintage, the secret ingredient is a few barrels of Bassi Chardonnay and the rest of the blend comes from Rancho Arroyo Grande. The grape varieties were harvested and fermented separately, then foot tread to soak on skins before being whole bunch pressed the next morning. The juice was fermented in old french oak barrels with native yeast and bacteria, then aged on lees for 8 months. The wine was racked for the first time to blend + bottle, without fining or filtration, with minimal sulfur used. 456 cases produced./p>
Lady of the Sunshine is the California project of Gina Giugni, a second-generation biodynamic farmer and winemaker based on the Central Coast. Raised at her family's Scar of the Sea and Chene vineyards orbit, she created Lady of the Sunshine to focus on regenerative farming and wines that feel transparent, coastal and alive. Her own Chene Vineyard in Edna Valley is farmed organically and biodynamically, while purchased fruit comes from growers with similar values. The wines, often Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay and playful blends, are made with native yeasts and minimal additions, favoring brightness, texture and a clean imprint of cool Pacific air.
