Crafted by Gina Giugni from own-rooted, high-density vines in Ballard Canyon, this cuvée showcases California Sauvignon Blanc stripped of industrial tricks. The Demeter-certified biodynamic grapes are harvested during two separate picks early in September to capture distinct layers of natural acidity. Giugni implements a brief, overnight skin maceration following a traditional foot tread, building a structured phenol profile before pressing whole bunches into old French oak. It spends seven months maturing quietly on its lees, yielding a texturally complex white that trades aggressive varietal pungency for site transparency.

In the glass, the wine shows a bright, pale straw color with subtle silver highlights. The nose opens with a vibrant clash of grapefruit zest, white peach, and fresh-cut garden herbs, grounded by an underlying streak of crushed stone. On the palate, the patience of the lees aging reveals itself through a "crystalline" mineral core enveloped by a lightly cushioned, savory texture. Crisp citrus oil and a faint salinity interplay nicely against the natural weight of the fruit. The finish is remarkably taut, long, and clean, leaving a sharp, energetic memory of cold coastal air and limestone.

Lady of the Sunshine is the California project of Gina Giugni, a second-generation biodynamic farmer and winemaker based on the Central Coast. Raised at her family's Scar of the Sea and Chene vineyards orbit, she created Lady of the Sunshine to focus on regenerative farming and wines that feel transparent, coastal and alive. Her own Chene Vineyard in Edna Valley is farmed organically and biodynamically, while purchased fruit comes from growers with similar values. The wines, often Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay and playful blends, are made with native yeasts and minimal additions, favoring brightness, texture and a clean imprint of cool Pacific air.
