La Maison Romane Pommard 1er Cru 2022
La Maison RomaneGrape: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2022
Type: Red
This small-batch red Burgundy is a pure pinot noir crafted by Oronce de Beler at La Maison Romane. The hand-harvested premier cru fruit undergoes a three-week whole-cluster fermentation driven entirely by native vineyard wild yeasts. Cellar operations rigidly follow the lunar calendar, utilizing natural gravity flow instead of mechanical pumps to protect fruit definition. The wine matures for fifteen to nineteen months in neutral French oak barrels from the Tronçais forest.
It displays a clear ruby color, releasing an inviting bouquet of morello cherry, tangy red fruits, forest floor, and delicate spice notes. On the palate, a medium-bodied frame pairs fresh fruit profiles with a silky, accessible texture and fine tannins. A crisp line of natural acidity cuts cleanly through the center, keeping the fluid mouthfeel refreshed. Subtle layers of earth and tea leaves develop nicely as the wine opens up. It finishes completely dry, leaving a savory trace.
