Familia Furlotti Malbec 2019
Finca AdalgisaGrape: Malbec
Vintage: 2019
Type: Red
This old-vine red wine showcases malbec from an ancestral vineyard plot planted in 1936 in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Managed sustainably, the Furlotti family harvests low-yield parcels on alluvial soils three-thousand feet above sea level. Winemaking involves a pre-fermentation cold soak followed by a cool fermentation driven by native wild yeasts. Matured partly in neutral French oak barrels and settled in bottle, this cuvée captures a distinct high-altitude identity.
It pours a deep ruby color, releasing rich aromatics of dark plum, black raspberry, and cedar shavings. On the palate, the full-bodied, structured frame balances a mouthfilling fruit density with a firm line of fine-grained tannins. Savory layers of forest fruits fold into a dense mouthfeel that shows nice complexity. A clean thread of natural acidity runs through the center, keeping the profile fresh. It finishes dry and persistent, leaving a light spice trace.
Finca Adalgisa is a boutique wine hotel and small winery located in the Chacras de Coria area of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. Housed in a converted 20th-century manor, the property is famous for its history, hospitality, and a very limited production of high-quality Malbec. The vineyards were first planted in 1916 by the Italian-Argentine Furlotti-Moretti family, which has owned the property for generations. In 2002, the family converted the estate into a hotel to preserve its historic Malbec vines from urban expansion. The winery's single product is a Malbec made from the century-old vines on the property. The winemaking is handled by renowned local winemaker Carmelo Patti, who prioritizes balance and terroir. The wine is aged in the bottle before release. Finca Adalgisa is considered one of Argentina's smallest wineries, producing less than 500 cases of Malbec per year. The wine is exclusively available to guests of the hotel.
