Foradori Fontanasanta Nosiola 2024
ForadoriGrape: Nosiola
Vintage: 2024
Type: White
Nosiola is an ancient Trentino grape variety, once spread throughout the region and whose cultivation has since been restricted to the areas of Valle dei Laghi, Colline di Trento and Pressano. It is a variety that expresses itself intensely in poor-soil vineyards, producing wines of great delicacy and longevity.
In the past, Nosiola was always vinified on the skins. The possibility of cultivating ‘real’ grapes, rich in energy thanks to the biodynamic practices undertaken in the vineyard and the extraordinary strength of the amphora, means that now we have the possibility to undertake an ancient style of winemaking. The amphora (Tinaja from Villarrobledo, Spain), with its shape and the porosity of the clay from which it is made, allows the wine to remain in contact with the skins for a longer period. This is the true expression of the Nosiola, which is revealed slowly, requiring patience and time.
This is a table wine that expresses itself best after breathing for a long period and is served at least 15 degrees.
Rich, luminous gold in the glass, the wine offers complex aromas of apricot, honey, baked apple, citrus zest, and warm spices, underscored by a flinty, nutty minerality. It boasts bright, brisk acidity alongside an oily, smooth texture.
Foradori is a pioneering, biodynamic winery renowned for elevating the indigenous Teroldego grape to world-class status. Led by the influential Elisabetta Foradori since the 1980s and now by her children, the estate is known for its minimal intervention winemaking, vibrant wines, and commitment to expressing its unique volcanic and dolomitic terroir. Elisabetta is widely credited with rescuing the Teroldego grape from obscurity, transforming it from a common blending grape into a revered, single-varietal wine. The winery also produces exceptional white wines from other native and local varieties, including Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco. The estate has been farmed biodynamically since the early 2000s and was certified by Demeter in 2009. This holistic approach emphasizes biodiversity, a healthy ecosystem, and minimal human interference.
