Work in progress... Tasting as much as we can..
Flavio Roddolo is a revered traditionalist winemaker known for crafting deeply authentic, old-school Barolo. As a solitary artisan, he has cultivated a cult following for his uncompromising style and soulful wines that are released only when he deems them ready. Roddolo adheres to a no-frills, low-intervention philosophy. His wines are made with long macerations, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and extended aging in large, neutral Slavonian oak barrels. This results in rugged, intense, and deeply complex wines that are built for the long haul. Roddolo releases his wines long after the commercial norm, often a decade or more after the harvest. His Barolos, in particular, require significant time to evolve in the bottle, rewarding patient collectors with layers of earthy, savory, and elegant character.
