Grape: Mencía, Sousón, Brancellao, Gran Negro
Vintage: 2022
Type: Red

Sourced from a single vineyard on steep granite terraces in Ribeira Sacra, this red blend combines mencía, sousón, brancellao, and gran negro. The Envínate collective manages these old vines manually under organic practices to preserve high natural acidity. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes spontaneous native yeast fermentation with whole bunches in neutral open containers. Aged ten months in used French oak barrels, this unfiltered bottling establishes a pure granite identity.

It displays a bright ruby hue with magenta highlights, releasing an ethereal bouquet of pomegranate seeds, wild red fruits, and fresh spice. On the palate, the light-bodied frame is juicy and precise, balancing crunchy red currants with granitic structure. Soft, delicate tannins integrate with a clean wave of natural acidity that keeps the mouthfeel light. Notes of wild thyme and forest floor develop across the fluid core. It finishes dry, persistent, and clean, leaving a mineral trace.

Envínate is a collective of four friends who create highly sought-after, terroir-driven wines from distinct, Atlantic-influenced regions across Spain. The name, which translates to "wine yourself," reflects their minimal intervention philosophy, using old-fashioned farming and winemaking methods to allow each parcel to express its character. Founded in 2005 by friends Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Martínez, the group initially started as a winemaking consultancy before evolving into its own label. Envínate's methods involve working with organic and biodynamic principles in the vineyard, followed by fermentation with native yeasts and aging in old oak or concrete. They avoid fining, filtering, and use minimal to no sulfur.
