Famille Dutraive Chiroubles Lieu Dit Javernand 2023
Famille DutraiveGrape: Gamay
Vintage: 2023
Type: Red
Sourced from the sixty-year-old old-vine parcel called Javernand, this red wine represents a site-specific study in the Chiroubles appellation. The Dutraive family manages the hand-picked Gamay grapes using low-intervention protocols on steep granite soils situated four-hundred meters above sea level. The winemaking follows a traditional beaujolaise carbonic maceration with whole bunches and native wild vineyard yeasts, bypassing modern extraction adjustments. It settles in old wood barrels to encourage structural integration without oak flavor manipulation.
It displays a bright ruby hue, releasing a perfumed nose of crushed wild strawberry, black currant, and dried rose petals. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is juicy and direct, focusing on a fresh profile with excellent balance. Fine-grained, chalky tannins provide a subtle grip that shapes the fluid mouthfeel cleanly. A clean, central thread of mineral acidity runs through the center, keeping the palate refreshed. It finishes dry, leaving a savory trail of granite stones.
