Domaine des Ardoisieres Vin des Allobroges Rouge Cuvee Silice 2024
Domaine des ArdoisieresGrape: Gamay, Pinot Noir, Mondeuse Noire
Vintage: 2024
Type: Red
This red wine is a traditional regional blend of gamay, pinot noir, and mondeuse noire from biodynamic hillside vineyards. Winemaker Brice Omont manages the estate plots in the Vallée des Bauges, focusing on vines rooted in complex clay and schist soils. Spontaneous fermentation relies entirely on native vineyard yeasts in neutral tanks, avoiding modern extraction techniques or additions. It ages in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels to emphasize regional freshness over wood manipulation.
It pours a translucent ruby color, opening with a bright aromatic profile of wild strawberry, redcurrant, and fresh raspberry. On the palate, the light-to-medium body is juicy and direct, focusing on an energetic fruit presentation. Soft, delicate tannins integrate smoothly with a clean mineral baseline that gives it excellent lift. A snappy, vibrant acidity cuts through the mid-palate, keeping the mouthfeel light. It finishes dry and clean, leaving a trail of wet-stone minerality.
Domaine des Ardoisières is a defining estate of modern Savoie, born from the restoration of abandoned mountain terraces above Cévins in the late 1990s. The project was initiated by Michel Grisard and has been led by Brice Omont since 2005, with vineyards farmed organically and according to biodynamic principles on extraordinarily steep, rocky slopes. The domaine works Alpine varieties including Altesse, Jacquère, Mondeuse, Persan and Mondeuse Blanche, often in field-inspired blends. Native fermentations, restrained sulfur and gentle élevage preserve the wines' vivid acidity, herbal detail and striking mineral intensity, making them reference points for mountain wine.
