Domaine JeanDauge Viree Orange 2021
Domaine JeanDaugeGrape: Gros Manseng
Vintage: 2021
Type: Orange
This highly limited skin-contact orange wine is crafted entirely from one-hundred percent gros manseng grapes, with only six-hundred bottles produced. The hand-picked fruit undergoes a four-week skin maceration inside stainless steel tanks, relying entirely on native wild yeasts for spontaneous fermentation. The juice is then pressed and aged on its fine fermentation lees for fourteen months inside traditional clay amphorae. The wine settles naturally without modern temperature styling, filtration, or any added sulfur in the cellar.
It pours a hazy amber-gold color, releasing distinctive aromas of dried apricot, orange marmalade, and wild mountain herbs. A medium-to-full-bodied frame pairs stone fruit flavors with a distinct, tea-like tannin structure. A gentle phenolic grip frames the mid-palate cleanly, balanced by a sharp beam of mineral acidity from the clay aging. Subtle notes of raw hazelnut and wet stone add depth across the textured mouthfeel. It finishes completely bone-dry, leaving a long saline trace.
