This limited library collection showcases a three-vintage vertical of pure cabernet franc from the iconic Saumur-Champigny plots in the Loire Valley. The estate relies on low-intervention viticulture on tuffeau limestone soils, utilizing manual harvesting and spontaneous native yeast fermentations. Each vintage undergoes a prolonged two-year maturation process in a subterranean cellar inside neutral and seasoned French oak casks. Bypassing modern filtration or chemical corrections, this assembly provides a transparent look at vintage variation over time.

In the glass, the three bottles present a deep ruby color shifting toward garnet edges. The aromatics are highly complex, flashing wild cherry, damp earth, iron, and subtle truffle nuances. On the palate, the medium-bodied frames balance structural precision with fine-grained, assertive tannins that have integrated smoothly. Bracing, cool-climate acidity cuts cleanly through the dark fruit cores, keeping the mouthfeel fluid. The vertical finishes dry, persistent, and remarkably clean.

Clos Rougeard is a legendary, cult-status winery located in the Saumur-Champigny appellation of the Loire Valley, France. For decades, it was led by brothers Charly and Nadi Foucault, who were widely considered pioneers for their traditional, organic, and low-intervention approach. The estate is renowned for producing exceptionally pure and age-worthy Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc wines from its old vines. The Foucault brothers insisted on organic farming methods long before they were widespread in the region, avoiding chemicals and focusing on low yields to produce concentrated fruit.
