Cieck Misobolo Erbaluce di Caluso 2021
Azienda Agricola CieckGrape: Erbaluce
Vintage: 2021
Type: White
This white wine comes from the historic Vigna Misobolo single vineyard, a small plot situated on the sandy moraine hills of Caluso. The estate manages these old erbaluce vines using traditional, low-intervention methods to enhance natural acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with native wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks, completely avoiding wood barrels. The wine undergoes a lengthy twelve-month aging process on its fine lees in steel to encourage mineral density before bottling.
It pours a pale straw color with green highlights, opening with a complex nose of fresh pear, white flowers, and flinty minerals. A medium-bodied frame balances orchard fruit flavors with an intensely crisp, racy line of acidity. The extended lees contact contributes a savory texture that rounds out the mid-palate cleanly without heavy volume. A strong vein of mountain salinity cuts through the mouthfeel, providing excellent structural tension. It finishes long, dry, and savory.
