Grape: Nebbiolo
Vintage: 2018
Type: Red

This organic red wine is a site-specific blend crafted by Chiara Boschis from six distinct vineyard parcels within the Barolo appellation. The vines are managed under certified organic viticulture protocols across diverse terroirs rich in limestone, clay, and sand. The hand-picked Nebbiolo grapes undergo a traditional native fermentation with wild vineyard yeasts, followed by a prolonged skin maceration for structural definition. The wine matures for twenty-four months in lightly seasoned French oak tonneaux to refine its structure.

It pours a clear garnet color, opening with complex aromas of sour cherry, licorice, woodsmoke, and tar. The medium-to-full-bodied palate is deep and structured, pairing concentrated red fruit with a firm, assertive tannin backbone. Savory layers of iron, cedar, and dried rose petals unfold as the fluid mouthfeel develops. A bracing line of mountain acidity cuts through the structural weight, maintaining focus. It finishes long, dry, and persistent, leaving a mouthwatering mineral trail.

Its reputation stems from the exceptional Barolo wines crafted by Chiara Boschis, a trailblazing female winemaker who took over the estate in 1990. Chiara Boschis was a crucial part of the "Barolo Boys," a group of young winemakers who modernized winemaking in the region while staying true to tradition. Her philosophy is to create Barolo that combines the region's characteristic power with elegance, balance, and intense aromatics. The estate transitioned to organic farming, receiving certification in 2014. Boschis is a staunch advocate for sustainable viticulture and even led an effort that convinced 80% of other growers in the prestigious Cannubi cru to work organically.
