Cascina Baricchi Ca Va Sans Dire Timorasso 2016
Cascina BaricchiGrape: Timorasso
Vintage: 2016
Type: White
The Timorasso “Ça Va Sans Dire” from Cascina Baricchi is crafted from vines planted in the 1950s. It is aged more than eight years in old oak casks prior to bottling. The 2016 is simply superb on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet offering up a vibrant blend of lemon, passion fruit, beeswax, lime peel, a beautiful base of salty soil, wild fennel, dried flowers and a lovely touch of savory elements in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, bright and zesty, with a full-bodied, complex and impeccably balanced format, superb depth of fruit at the core and a long, precise and soil-driven finish. This is an utterly stunning bottle of Timorasso that is fresh as a daisy and easily has another decade of life ahead of it.
Cascina Baricchi is a small, traditional, family-owned winery located in the Piedmont region of Italy, known for crafting elegant, age-worthy Barbaresco. Led by Natale Simonetta and his wife Francesca, the estate is a champion of the rare Nebbiolo Rosé clone, which contributes to the wines' delicate and complex character. The winemaking is staunchly traditional, with foot-crushing for gentle extraction, long fermentations, extended maceration, and aging in large, neutral oak barrels. They use only natural yeasts for fermentation.
