Paolo Cianferoni (with the help of his sons) is making a concerted push for top winery in Chianti Classico. Considering the form of recent vintages, I’d say you can pick out a handful or peer estates that are in Paolo’s lofty orbit, but only a handful. What you have here is certified organic high elevation Sangiovese from a small family farm that can age for two decades. Is it the best Sangiovese on earth?
Azienda Agricola Caparsa is a family-run winery located in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Run by Paolo Cianferoni and his family since 1982, the estate is celebrated for its traditional, organic wines, primarily based on the Sangiovese grape. Cianferoni's approach is rooted in old-school Tuscan winemaking, with an organic, low-intervention style that highlights the high-altitude, mineral-rich soils of Radda.
