Jean-Marc Grussaute Camin Larredya Jusancon Sec 2022
Camin LarredyaGrape: Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu, Camaralet
Vintage: 2022
Type: White
This dry white wine comes from the Jurançon Sec appellation in the Pyrenees foothills, managed under strict certified biodynamic viticulture protocols. Winemaker Jean-Marc Grussaute co-ferments native varieties Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu, and Camaralet from rows rooted in clay-limestone soils. The hand-harvested grapes are pressed slowly and undergo a spontaneous native fermentation driven by wild vineyard yeasts inside neutral foudres and barrels. It matures on its fine lees to build natural structural complexity without wood dominance.
It displays a bright straw-yellow color, releasing intense aromatics of citrus rind, green apple, fresh mango, and white flowers. A medium-bodied, texturally driven frame pairs intense orchard fruit flavors with a sharp line of mineral acidity. A lively wave of natural acidity cuts through the waxy texture, maintaining great freshness. Subtle notes of raw hazelnut and wild thyme add depth across the textured mouthfeel. It finishes completely bone-dry, leaving a lingering trace of salinity.
Camin Larredya is a celebrated winery located in the Jurançon appellation of France, nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Led by Jean-Marc Grussaute, the estate has gained international fame for crafting both stunning dry (sec) and lusciously sweet (moelleux) white wines from indigenous grapes. The name "Camin" means "road" in the local dialect. Grussaute converted the vineyards to organic farming in the 2000s and later began practicing biodynamic methods. This approach, combined with the unique, high-altitude terroir, contributes to the clarity and expressiveness of the wines.
