Borgo del Tiglio Collio Studio di Bianco DOC 2017
Azienda Agricola Borgo del TiglioGrape: Friulano, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage: 2017
Type: White
Crafted by Nicola Manferrari in the Collio region of Friuli, this aged white blend is sourced from select hillside vineyards in Ruttars. The cuvée co-ferments friulano, riesling, and sauvignon blanc using low-intervention methods to capture the structural potential of the local marl soils. The juice undergoes a pressing and ferments with wild yeasts in small two-hundred-fifty liter French oak barrels. It undergoes a partial malolactic conversion and ages for nine months on its fine lees before bottling.
It pours a deep gold color, opening with complex aromatics of yellow orchard fruit, preserved lemon, ginger, and acacia flowers. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, showcasing a silky texture balanced by a sharp beam of mineral acidity. Savory layers of hazelnut, dried apricot, and petrol develop as the wine opens up. A strong vein of mountain salinity cuts right through mid-palate volume, keeping it fresh.
