This single-vineyard red wine is a pure varietal bottling of syrah sourced from ancient vines planted in 1973 using Beaucastel cuttings. Sourced from the Pautel parcel, the old vines grow directly in a geology of galets roulés and grey clay. Winemaker Benoît Pontenier utilizes low-intervention protocols, featuring a partial destemming and spontaneous fermentation with native wild yeasts in stainless steel. It matures for twelve months in a fifteen-hundred liter foudre followed by a year of bottle aging without added sulfur.

It displays a bright garnet-ruby color, releasing refined aromas of sour cherry, wild plum, woodsmoke, and black pepper. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is structured and balanced, pairing mature fruit flavors with a firm, fine-grained tannin profile. Savory notes of black olive tapenade and underbrush blend into the fruit core across mid-palate. A clean line of natural acidity cuts through the volume, maintaining excellent freshness.
