Grape: Tempranillo, Graciano
Vintage: 2020
Type: Red

This single-vineyard red wine comes from the Finca de los Locos parcel, an elevated terrace situated high above the Ebro River in Baños de Ebro. Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco manage this site organically, where the vines struggle through poor, gravelly soils containing a high percentage of limestone. The blend incorporates eighty percent tempranillo and twenty percent graciano, co-fermented using native wild yeasts. It ages for sixteen months in neutral French oak barrels to refine its structure.

It pours a dark ruby color, opening with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, fresh plum, and wild rosemary. The medium-bodied palate is deep and structured, balancing dense fruit flavors with a serious, fine-grained tannin profile. Savory notes of damp earth and cracked black pepper blend into the dark berry core. A clean, central thread of mineral acidity cuts through the volume, maintaining excellent freshness.

Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke is located in the village of Baños de Ebro in the Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. Run by brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco, the winery takes a more modern and terroir-focused approach to winemaking than many of the larger, traditional Rioja houses. The brothers champion a "Burgundian" philosophy, focusing on the character of individual vineyard plots rather than blending for a uniform style. Their wines are often classified by origin rather than by the traditional aging categories of Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva.
