Grape: Tempranillo
Vintage: 2020

Produced from a single high-altitude vineyard in Baños de Ebro, this pure tempranillo bottling showcases the calcareous clay terroir of Rioja Alavesa. Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco harvest the fruit by hand from old vines managed under strict organic viticulture. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous wild yeasts in small stainless steel vats to preserve site- transparency. It matures for fourteen months in a single large neutral oak vat, bypassing new wood barrels to highlight fruit purity.

It shows a ruby color, releasing aromas of wild raspberry, red cherry, and a faint hint of cedar shavings. A medium-bodied frame pairs fresh red fruit flavors with a chiseled, mineral-driven line. Fine-grained, chalky tannins provide a smooth structural grip that coordinates nicely with the fruit without feeling heavy. A clean wave of natural acidity runs through mid-palate, keeping the fluid mouthfeel refreshed.

Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke is located in the village of Baños de Ebro in the Rioja Alavesa region of Spain. Run by brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco, the winery takes a more modern and terroir-focused approach to winemaking than many of the larger, traditional Rioja houses. The brothers champion a "Burgundian" philosophy, focusing on the character of individual vineyard plots rather than blending for a uniform style. Their wines are often classified by origin rather than by the traditional aging categories of Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva.
