Amorotti Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2020
AmorottiGrape: Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Vintage: 2020
Type: White
This white wine comes from ancient family vineyards in Loreto Aprutino, farmed organically on clay and limestone soils. Gaetano Carboni utilizes the traditional tendone training system to protect the fruit, allowing for slow ripening and high natural acidity. The hand-picked trebbiano d'abruzzo grapes undergo a spontaneous fermentation with native wild yeasts in untoasted Slavonian oak tonneaux. Aged for one year in large neutral wood, it completes a natural malolactic fermentation to deliver an authentic regional signature.
It displays a pale yellow-gold color, releasing a complex mix of yellow flowers, sweet smoke, and ripe custard. A smooth texture offers a waxy mouthfeel filled with flavors of yellow apple and grilled lemon. A core of vivid peach and orange oil develops as the wine sits in the glass. A sharp sea-salt salinity cuts through the rich mid-palate volume, providing structural balance. It concludes with a clean, dry, and persistent finish.
Amorotti:
Amorotti is a fairly new project ,2016 being their first vintage. Gaetano Carboni makes three standout wines traditional to Abruzzo, (a white) Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, and two made with the red Montepulciano grape (a light red/rose) Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. These three wines mary seriousness of intention and delicious, bright uplifting fruit profile. The wines are distinctive while being approachable, made in a low intervention manner, native yeast, spontaneous fermentation, minimum sulfur.
The vineyards have belonged to the family for over a century and certified organic since 2009.
The industrialization of wine is the end of its identities, its nuances, its characteristics which are part of the magic of a bottle.
