This red wine comes from The Pivot, Littorai's own 3-acre estate block within the 30-acre Gold Ridge property Ted and Heidi Lemon bought in 2003 to farm as a self-sustaining biodynamic model. The vineyard sits at 150 meters on a south-facing ridge in the Sebastopol Hills, in Gold Ridge loam cooled by fog from the nearby Petaluma Gap. Unlike the estate's purchased-fruit bottlings, this one is entirely home-grown, farmed by the winemaker himself from planting to bottle.

It displays a brick-edged garnet color, opening with dried red fruit, forest floor, and a mineral, sandy-soil note distinct to Gold Ridge ground. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame has resolved into something elegant and settled after more than 15 years, balancing softened fruit against silky, fully integrated tannin. Acidity remains bright and has carried the wine well past most Sonoma Coast pinots of the same age. It finishes long and pure, the estate's own site speaking plainly after this much time.

The Pivot is 3 acres within the 30-acre Gold Ridge Estate that Heidi and Ted Lemon bought in 2003, on a ridge top in the Sebastopol Hills. The soil is Gold Ridge loam over marine-origin sandstone, planted in 2004 to Dijon 667, 114 and 777 alongside Swann, Calera and a proprietary clone. Cool temperatures come off the Petaluma Gap, the corridor that draws fog inland, and the vineyard averages 3.07 tons per acre.
