Pierre Girardin carries one of Burgundy's most famous surnames into a sharply focused new generation. The son of Vincent Girardin, Pierre began his own domaine with a mix of family vineyards and carefully chosen fruit, working from Meursault and making wines across the Cote de Beaune. His style is precise and modern without being flashy: careful farming, controlled oak, long elevage and a desire for tension in both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wines have quickly attracted attention because they combine access to serious terroirs with a young winemaker's eye for purity, reduction, line and energetic finish.
