Grape: Xarel-lo
Vintage: 2022
Type: White

Produced by the Recaredo family team under the Celler Credo label, this dry white wine focuses on the indigenous xarel-lo grape. The fruit is grown using biodynamic viticulture on local limestone soils that restrict vine vigor and retain high mineral components. The winemaking embraces low-intervention principles, utilizing spontaneous native yeast fermentation in stainless steel tanks. It rests undisturbed on its fine fermentation lees for six months to build natural texture prior to bottling without fining.

It displays a bright straw color, releasing aromatics of green apple, lemon oil, wild herbs, and white flowers. On the palate, the light-to-medium body is refreshingly crisp and agile, driven by a sharp wave of maritime acidity. Flavors of fresh citrus and white peach fold into a textured mid-palate that shows an element of calcareous minerality. The clean steel aging provides a smooth mouthfeel avoiding heavy weight.

In 1924, Josep Mata Capellades stepped into the world of sparkling wines as an apprentice bottle riddler and disgorgement specialist in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. That first step marked the beginning of a story of entrepreneurship and a deep connection to the land—one that continues today with the third generation of the Recaredo family. From the very beginning, our philosophy has been rooted in respect for the vineyard and artisanal production of vintage Brut Nature sparkling wines, with manual disgorgement and long ageing. A century later, the innovative spirit of our founder lives on through family-led projects that explore the Penedès from different perspectives but share the same essence: authenticity and sustainability. A still white wine project born from the same family-driven curiosity and devotion to the land. At Celler Credo, we work with Mediterranean and native varieties, with xarel·lo as the central pillar, crafting wines that offer an honest expression of the Penedès. No chemicals or herbicides are used—100% of our grapes come from organically farmed vineyards, and some also follow biodynamic practices. We create living wines, with character, deeply rooted in the land.
