Tarlant Zero Rose Brut Nature NV

Price:$95.00

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
Vintage: NV
Type: Sparkling

This low-intervention grower Champagne rosé is a traditional wood-fermented blend of chardonnay and pinot noir from the village of Œilly. The Tarlant family handles the fruit from estate-owned plots using a hands-off cellar approach, allowing a spontaneous fermentation driven by native wild yeasts. The pinot noir grapes are destemmed and undergo a brief skin maceration before being pressed directly into old Burgundy barrels. The base components mature on their fine lees in barrel before secondary bottle fermentation without any added sugar.

It pours a copper-pink color with a persistent stream of fine bubbles, releasing complex aromas of wild red fruit and field flowers. A creamy yet linear mousse delivers a rich fruit concentration balanced by a sharp line of limestone acidity. A bracing wave of natural freshness runs through the center, keeping the fluid frame refreshed. It concludes with a clean, bone-dry finish.

Winery

Champagne Tarlant is a family grower based in Œuilly, in the Vallée de la Marne, with roots in grape growing that reach back to 1687. The family’s vineyards occupy a varied patchwork of sites around the village, giving the cellar several combinations of soil, exposure and grape variety to work with. The range includes both blended wines and more specific vineyard expressions, with bottlings such as La Vigne d’Antan, La Vigne d’Or and La Vigne Royale drawing attention to individual parts of that inheritance.

Careful vineyard work is matched by a cellar approach that gives fermentation and aging time to develop the wines. Barrel vinification and long lees maturation are important tools within the range, while Brut Nature bottlings make the absence of dosage part of the house’s recognizable style. Zéro and Rosé Zéro offer accessible introductions to that approach. The emphasis is on the balance already present in the base wines and their development in bottle, allowing the Marne valley’s fruit and the character built through aging to remain at the center.
