Domaine Huet Vouvray Petillant Brut 2019
Domaine HuetGrape: Chenin Blanc
Vintage: 2019
Type: Sparkling
This sparkling white wine is crafted by the established Domaine Huet from biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Vouvray region. The chenin blanc grapes are hand-picked from rows rooted in limestone topsoils over porous tuffeau. Vinification follows the traditional method but with slightly lower pressure than Champagne, utilizing a native yeast primary fermentation. The wine undergoes secondary bottle fermentation and extended aging on its lees in deep chalk cellars to build natural structural stability.
It pours a pale gold color with a fine, persistent stream of bubbles, opening with clean aromas of golden apple, pear, and quince. On the palate, a creamy yet linear mousse delivers crisp flavors of fresh citrus fruit alongside a distinct hint of honeycomb. A sharp, limestone-driven acidity cuts right through the mid-palate volume, keeping it fresh. Subtle notes of white flowers and brioche add a savory depth to the mouthfeel. It finishes clean and bone-dry.
Winery
Domaine Huet is a benchmark producer of world-class Chenin Blanc wines in Vouvray, France, renowned for their complexity and extraordinary aging potential. Founded in 1928, the estate is a pioneer of biodynamic farming, a practice it has used since the early 1990s to express the unique character of its vineyards. Grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentation occurs with natural yeasts in ancient cellars carved out of the local tuffeau limestone. The winery uses minimal intervention to let the terroir shine. Situated on the north bank of the Loire River, the estate helped define the potential of single-climat chenin blanc.
