Peter Lauer is one of the great names of the Saar, a Mosel subregion defined by cool temperatures, slate soils and piercing Riesling. Based in Ayl, the Lauer family has farmed the Ayler Kupp and neighboring sites for generations, with Florian Lauer now guiding the domaine. The estate is known for bottlings identified by old cask numbers, each tied to particular parcels and styles, and for wines that prize clarity over sweetness.
