Emiliano Falsini Feudo Pignatone Etna Rosso 2023
Emiliano FalsiniGrape: Nerello Mascalese
Vintage: 2023
Type: Red
Sourced from Contrada Feudo Pignatone, a historic parcel located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna at 700 meters elevation, this single-vineyard red comes from dry-farmed old vines rooted in deep black volcanic ash and pumice. Oenologist Emiliano Falsini hand-harvests the nerello mascalese, fermenting whole clusters naturally with native yeasts in open oak vats using delicate manual punch-downs. The wine ages in neutral 500-liter French oak tonneau barrels to preserve its high-altitude purity and delicate floral aromas without introducing heavy oak flavor. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is a refined, mineral-centric expression of volcanic terroir built on elegance and vertical tension.
A translucent ruby hue with light garnet reflections introduces perfumed aromas of wild strawberry, tart pomegranate, crushed violet, and smoky ash. On the palate, focused flavors of sour cherry, blood orange zest, dried oregano, and iron-rich minerals unfold over a lean, medium-bodied frame. Silky, fine-grained tannins and a bright, persistent line of natural acidity give the mid-palate exceptional structural focus without feeling heavy. It closes on a long, dry, and mouthwatering finish marked by lingering notes of crushed lava rock, citrus peel, and dried rose petals.

Emiliano Falsini’s personal wine project explores two contrasting Italian landscapes: the northern slopes of Mount Etna around Randazzo and the Tuscan coast near Castagneto Carducci. Each is approached as a place with its own viticultural history and potential. Feudo Pignatone anchors the Etna range, while Cabernet Franc is central to the coastal Tuscan wines. Falsini describes the project as artisanal and rooted in origin, seeking distinctive wines that reflect the territories from which they come.
