Price:$44.00

Grape: Fiano
Vintage: 2024
Type: White

Sourced exclusively from the high-altitude "906" parcel in Summonte, planted at over 650 meters elevation, this single-vineyard bottling represents Ciro Picariello's benchmark expression of Campania white wine. Rooted in steep, volcanic ash and clay-limestone soils, the hand-harvested fiano undergoes a long, temperature-controlled fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages on its fine lees for roughly 12 months with minimal intervention, bypassing oak entirely to preserve its laser-focused minerality and raw varietal character. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is a dense, high-acid white built for incredible purity and cellaring potential.

A bright straw-yellow color leads into complex aromas of smoky flint, green apple, hazelnut, lemon zest, and white flowers. On the palate, focused flavors of white peach, salt-cured citrus, crushed stone, and wild herbs unfold over a textured, medium-bodied frame. High, driving natural acidity cuts directly through the wine's rich leesy weight, providing remarkable vertical tension and energy. It finishes exceptionally long, bone-dry, and intensely saline, leaving a lasting impression of smoky volcanic ash and bitter grapefruit pith.

Winery

Ciro Picariello is based in Summonte, in the hills of Irpinia in Campania. Fiano is at the heart of the estate, with Greco and Aglianico also representing the region’s vineyard traditions. The whites are made and matured in stainless steel, with time on their lees building texture without making oak the focus. The Ciro 906 bottling comes from a single Fiano vineyard in Summonte. These are wines that place the local grapes and the character of their hillside origins at the center.
