Saša Radikon manages low-yielding ribolla gialla vines organically on mineral-dense ponca soils of marl and sandstone along the Slovenian border. The destemmed grapes undergo a three-month skin maceration inside traditional wood vats with native yeasts and zero added sulfur. The liquid matures for four years in neutral casks followed by a year of bottle resting before release in a one-liter format. This zero-zero cuvée establishes a commanding site identity.

It pours a deep amber-orange color with burnt-topaz highlights, releasing a complex nose of dried orange peel, apricot compote, black tea, and beeswax. A medium-to-full-bodied frame pairs a dense texture with a sharp beam of high-toned alpine acidity. The prolonged skin maceration provides a firm framework of fine-grained tannins that coats the palate. Notes of white pepper add savory depth across the mid-palate volume. It concludes with a long, bone-dry finish, leaving a salty stamp of stone.

Radikon is one of the foundational names of the modern skin-contact and natural-wine movement. Based in Oslavia, in Friuli near the Slovenian border, the Radikon family built its identity around long macerations for white grapes, minimal sulfur and a deeply traditional approach that had become radical by modern standards. Stanko Radikon helped bring these methods to international attention, and the estate continues under his family with Ribolla Gialla, Jakot, Pinot Grigio and other varieties. The wines are amber, structured and savory, less about novelty than about reviving a borderland culture of patience, texture and uncompromising farming.
