Vin Noe Amour Vache Vin de France 2023
Vin NoeGrape: Gamay, Aligoté
Vintage: 2023
Type: Red
This low-intervention red wine is a field blend of gamay and aligoté crafted by Californian winemaker Jonathan Purcell in Burgundy. Sourced from organic plots, the fruit is vinified in an ancient one-hundred-year-old cuverie in Auxey-Duresses using zero sulfur additions. The grapes undergo a long, hands-off skin maceration with whole clusters, relying on native wild vineyard yeasts for fermentation. Purcell transfers the wine using natural gravity flow instead of mechanical pumps to safeguard structural freshness.
It displays a bright ruby hue with slight haze, releasing intense aromas of cherry, raspberry, and wild berries. On the palate, the light-bodied frame is juicy and refreshing, focusing on a vibrant, low-extraction red fruit presentation. Savory underscores of forest floor, wild mushroom, and woodsmoke add a detailed complexity across the fluid core without feeling heavy. A clean current of alpine acidity runs through the center, maintaining great freshness. It concludes bone-dry with a clean finish.
