Grape: Teroldego
Vintage: 2021
Type: Red

Sourced from the Campo Rotaliano plateau, this red wine represents a select look at the native teroldego grape. The Foradori family farms the alluvial stony soils using biodynamic practices to cultivate fruit with natural structural density. The hand-harvested grapes are fully destemmed and fermented spontaneously with native vineyard yeasts in large neutral open-top vats. The wine matures in seasoned French oak barrels to allow the components to settle naturally without wood flavor dominance.

It pours a dark, opaque ruby color, releasing aromas of black raspberry, wild herbs, and exotic spices. On the palate, a full-bodied, tightly knit frame pairs concentrated dark fruit flavors with a firm, edgy tannin framework. Savory notes of crushed ashen stones and damp earth add a distinct mineral tension. A racy vein of natural acidity runs through the center, keeping the fluid mouthfeel refreshed. It finishes completely dry and long, leaving a crunchy trail.

Foradori is a pioneering, biodynamic winery renowned for elevating the indigenous Teroldego grape to world-class status. Led by the influential Elisabetta Foradori since the 1980s and now by her children, the estate is known for its minimal intervention winemaking, vibrant wines, and commitment to expressing its unique volcanic and dolomitic terroir. Elisabetta is widely credited with rescuing the Teroldego grape from obscurity, transforming it from a common blending grape into a revered, single-varietal wine. The winery also produces exceptional white wines from other native and local varieties, including Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco. The estate has been farmed biodynamically since the early 2000s and was certified by Demeter in 2009. This holistic approach emphasizes biodiversity, a healthy ecosystem, and minimal human interference.
