Marcel Lapierre Morgon N 2024
Marcel LapierreGrape: Gamay
Vintage: 2024
Type: Red
This organic red wine represents a benchmark expression of Morgon gamay crafted without the addition of sulfites. Mathieu and Camille Lapierre follow old-school viticulture guidelines, focusing on hand-harvesting ripe grapes from plots rich in decomposed granite and manganese. The fruit undergoes a spontaneous native fermentation using vineyard wild yeasts in neutral tanks, completely avoiding commercial additives. The wine settles naturally in seasoned wood casks and is bottled unfiltered to protect fruit clarity.
It pours a bright ruby color, opening with expressive aromas of fresh red currants, wild cherries, and potting soil. On the palate, the medium-bodied frame is juicy and structured, balancing primary fruit density with an energetic mouthfeel. Clean layers of dark fruit and savory spices develop beautifully across the fluid core as it opens up. Soft, fine-grained tannins provide a gentle grip that frames the clean finish nicely. It concludes bone-dry, leaving a lingering mineral trace.
