Sourced from the steep hillsides of the Phoenix Vineyard, this red wine represents an elegant, old-vine approach to Napa cabernet sauvignon. Steve Matthiasson handles the hand-picked estate fruit with small additions of merlot and cabernet franc to build structural complexity. Spontaneous fermentation relies entirely on native vineyard wild yeasts in neutral open tanks, prioritizing light extraction to highlight transparency. The wine matures in seasoned French oak barriques to emphasize an aromatic lift over heavy wood masking.

It shows a clear ruby color, releasing refined aromas of fresh red fruits, wild cherry, and mountain herbs. On the palate, the light-to-medium body is fluid and precise, offering a style suited for Burgundy enthusiasts. Fine-grained, soft tannins provide a subtle structural frame across the mid-palate volume without feeling heavy. A clean wave of mountain acidity cuts through the texture, maintaining great freshness. It concludes bone-dry, leaving a light trail of graphite.
