Burgundian micro-domaine and estate Vin Noé is the project of young Californian winemaker Jonathan Purcell. After graduating from his studies in Beaune, Jonathan built an impressive resume, with working as a tractor operator at Domaine de Montille and also for many years under the legendary Philippe Pacalet.
Jonathan established Vin Noé in 2016, based out of a 100-year-old cuverie in Auxey-Duresses. Wines are produced using purchased grapes from the Mâcon, Beaujolais, and, more recently, from leased sites in Puligny-Montrachet and Saint Aubin.
Ultra-low-intervention Chardonnay from high-altitude vines in one of Burgundy's most prestigious white wine villages. It is known for its intense mineral energy and rich texture, crafted without added sulfur, fining, or filtration.
This Chardonnay is an exercise in high-altitude tension, defined by a powerful, bone-dry structure and a "wild" natural edge. The nose opens with an intense bouquet of lemon curd, crushed rocks, and white florals like lilies, often giving way to more exotic hints of ginger and kiwi. On the palate, it strikes a balance between a rich, buttery texture and a piercing, salty minerality that reflects its limestone terroir. The finish is remarkably long and dense, characterized by a persistent lemon acidity that keeps the wine’s concentrated weight feeling fresh and expressive.
