Benedicte & Stephane Tissot Arbois Rouge DD Magnum 2022
TissotGrape: Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2022
Type: Red
This red wine is a traditional Jura blend of Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir, presented in a magnum format for slow development. Stéphane and Bénédicte Tissot source the fruit from certified biodynamic plots rooted in complex marl and limestone soils. The winemaking utilizes spontaneous native yeast fermentations and zero added sulfites to maintain a raw, unmanipulated profile. Bypassing new oak barrels, the wine settles naturally in neutral containers to focus on fruit transparency.
It radiates a clear ruby color, releasing an expressive nose of wild strawberries, hibiscus flowers, and fresh red currants. On the palate, the light-bodied frame is exceptionally juicy and supple, focusing on a bright fruit presentation. Soft, unctuous tannins integrate smoothly with a clean wave of natural acidity that keeps the palate refreshed. Subtle earthy undertones add a savory depth to the red berry flavors. It finishes clean, dry, and mouthwateringly light.
Stéphane Tissot and his wife Bénédicte have 35 hectares of vineyards “cultivated in bio-dynamic viticulture (certified by Demeter) to allow the soils to live, to have grapes untouched by chemical products, to allow natural yeast fermentations, to reduce the doses of sulfur in the cellar.”
They produce truly unique, terroir-driven natural wines, wines we love, admire, and cherish. These are without doubt some of our most prized wines.
André and Mireille Tissot founded their estate in 1962, in the village of Montigny-les-Arsures, in the Jura. Stéphane took over from his father with a new vision and converted it to chemical-free farming, organic and then biodynamic. They are meticulous in their farming and in the cellar, producing up to 28 unique cuvees.
