Meaning happiness in German, Glück is a skin-fermented white blend of chardonnay and sauvignon blanc from Styria. Ewald Tscheppe manages the steep hillsides under strict biodynamic viticulture guidelines to optimize natural grape balance. The hand-harvested fruit undergoes a traditional two-week skin maceration driven entirely by native wild yeasts in neutral open tuns. The wine completes its maturation process by aging for two full years on its fine lees in large oak casks.

It pours a hazy, golden-yellow color, releasing wild aromatics of dried apples, yellow plum, fresh honey, and field blossoms. On the palate, a medium-bodied, texturally driven frame pairs orchard fruit profiles with a gentle, tea-like tannin structure. A fine phenolic grip frames the mid-palate cleanly, providing excellent structural tension. A sharp wave of mountain acidity cuts through the aromatic weight, keeping the mouthfeel fresh. It finishes long, bone-dry, and savory.

Werlitsch is Brigitte and Ewald Tscheppe's biodynamic estate in southern Styria, tucked near the Slovenian border on the region's opok soils of calcareous marl. Ewald moved away from the simple, aromatic white wines often associated with Styria and instead built a deeply natural, site-focused project around Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon, Welschriesling and blends such as the Ex Vero series. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, the wines ferment spontaneously, age for long periods on the lees and are bottled unfined, unfiltered and often without sulfur. They are energetic, mineral and contemplative, showing Styria as a place of depth rather than mere freshness.
