Domaine de la Grande Colline Bibendum Rouge 2022
Domaine de la Grand CollineGrape: Cinsault
Vintage: 2022
Type: Red
This light red wine is crafted by natural winemaker Jacquart from one-hundred percent cinsault grown in a rugged landscape. The winemaking utilizes a low-intervention approach, featuring a traditional whole-cluster fermentation and a long, gentle maceration inside neutral vessels. The hand-harvested fruit is handled carefully to protect the delicate aromatics of the variety during vinification. The final liquid is bottled completely unfiltered, unfined, and without any added sulfur to maintain its raw identity.
It displays a beautiful bright ruby color, releasing aromas of wild raspberry, red cherry, and fresh violet petals. On the palate, the light-to-medium-bodied frame feels energetic and fluid, balancing red fruit flavors with a distinctive silkiness. Fine, soft tannins provide a smooth structural grip across the mid-palate without feeling heavy or extracted. A clean wave of mountain acidity cuts through the texture, maintaining great freshness. It finishes completely dry, leaving a racy trace of pepper.
Domaine de la Grande Colline sits high on the steep granite slopes of Cornas overlooking the Rhône. The estate was established by Japanese vigneron Hirotake Ooka and is now led by Jonathan Jacquart, who trained with Emmanuel Reynaud, Thierry Allemand and several other leading French domaines before taking over in 2018. Jacquart continues the property's chemical-free farming while adding biodynamic practices, animals and greater biodiversity. The Syrah is vinified simply, often with whole bunches, gentle extraction and neutral barrels, producing Cornas of dark fruit, pepper and savory depth tempered by the freshness of the domaine's high-altitude sites.
