Grape: Sangiovese
Vintage: 2018
Type: Red

Crafted by Paolo Cianferoni at his family’s small estate, this red wine is a traditional expression of one-hundred percent sangiovese from Radda in Chianti. The grapes are harvested by hand from certified organic, high-elevation plots rooted in rocky limestone and galestro shale soils. Spontaneous fermentation relies on native wild yeasts in traditional concrete vats with no temperature control. It ages for more than a year in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks to build structural longevity without wood flavor mask.

It pours a deep ruby color with a faint garnet edge, opening with aromas of wild black cherries, tobacco leaf, and violets. A medium-bodied frame is juicy and racy, pairing red currant fruit with a firm, dusty tannin backbone. Savory layers of leather, cedar, and damp earth develop nicely as the fluid mouthfeel opens up. A racy vein of high-altitude acidity cuts through the structural weight, keeping it.

Azienda Agricola Caparsa is a family-run winery located in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Run by Paolo Cianferoni and his family since 1982, the estate is celebrated for its traditional, organic wines, primarily based on the Sangiovese grape. Cianferoni's approach is rooted in old-school Tuscan winemaking, with an organic, low-intervention style that highlights the high-altitude, mineral-rich soils of Radda.
