Lady of the Sunshine Botanical NV Solera No. 4
Lady of the SunshineGrape: White Blend
Vintage: NV
Type: White
This artisanal white blend is produced by Gina Giugni from fruit grown across the Central Coast. The production features a multi-vintage solera base spanning 2018 through 2023, making up half of the final white blend. The remaining half consists of fresh harvest wine to introduce structural acidity and high-toned freshness. Following blending, the liquid is steeped with dried botanicals and foraged garden plants before an unfined, unfiltered bottling.
It pours a bright straw color, releasing nostalgic aromatics of wild lemon balm, spiced sun tea, and local citrus blossoms. On the palate, a medium-bodied frame balances a layered texture with a mouthwatering trail of salted citrus rinds. A sharp wave of maritime salinity runs through the center, keeping the fluid mouthfeel clean and precise. Subtle notes of wild shrubs develop beautifully as the wine sits in the glass. It finishes dry and persistent.
Lady of the Sunshine is the California project of Gina Giugni, a second-generation biodynamic farmer and winemaker based on the Central Coast. Raised at her family's Scar of the Sea and Chene vineyards orbit, she created Lady of the Sunshine to focus on regenerative farming and wines that feel transparent, coastal and alive. Her own Chene Vineyard in Edna Valley is farmed organically and biodynamically, while purchased fruit comes from growers with similar values. The wines, often Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay and playful blends, are made with native yeasts and minimal additions, favoring brightness, texture and a clean imprint of cool Pacific air.
