Grape: Chenin Blanc, Melon de Bourgogne, Aligoté, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc
Vintage: 2022
Type: Orange

This skin-contact orange wine is an artisanal field blend combining chenin blanc, melon de bourgogne, aligoté, auxerrois, and pinot blanc. Sourced from organically managed vineyards in Burgundy. The winemaking involves a three-month skin maceration inside clay amphorae, relying entirely on native wild yeasts for spontaneous fermentation. Matured for an additional ten months in clay before an unfiltered bottling, it delivers an authentic, texturally driven identity.

It pours a hazy amber-gold color, releasing distinctive aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, and fresh mountain wildflowers. On the palate, a medium-bodied frame pairs dried stone fruit flavors with a gentle, tea-like tannin structure. A fine phenolic grip frames the mid-palate cleanly, balanced by a sharp beam of mineral acidity. Subtle notes of raw hazelnut and wild thyme add depth across the textured mouthfeel. It finishes bone-dry, leaving a lingering trace of salinity.

Domaine Dame Jeanne is Jeanne Piollot’s project in Molesme, in the Châtillonnais at the northern edge of Burgundy. She grew up nearby in Champagne’s Aube, where her parents produce the separate Piollot and Marie Courtin ranges. Rather than simply continue under those labels, Jeanne developed her own domaine across the regional border, working with her partner Gennaro de Miccoli. The small limestone-based vineyard brings together the family’s farming background and the possibilities of Burgundy’s cool northern landscape.

Organic and biodynamic practices have been part of the vineyard work from the beginning. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay supply still and sparkling wines, with gentle extraction and restrained sulfur use. Skin-contact bottlings such as Solsequia explore another dimension of texture. The project is connected to Champagne through its family history, but the wines are made and bottled in Burgundy and have an identity of their own. That combination makes Dame Jeanne a meeting point between neighboring regions, with a personal approach to both familiar grapes and less conventional cellar choices.
